History
Do you know our history?
From our origins in the family textile industry to the present day. Walk through our history and discover all the secrets of Hotel & Spa Neptuno, you will love it!

At the end of 1958, the Nogueras family, consisting of a married couple and their two daughters, decided to buy an old textile factory in the center of Calella and continue their career in the then growing textile industry. As an enterprising family eager to overcome new challenges, they embarked on the great adventure of converting the factory into a small hotel.

At that time, the factory consisted of two buildings, but only one of them faced Sant Josep street. Until that day, the first floor of the building was rented to a car mechanic, whose boss the Nogueras' youngest daughter, Josefa, fell in love with.

Thus the one-star Hotel Tourist was inaugurated in 1961. Without knowing much about tourism or speaking any languages other than Catalan and Spanish, the family set out to welcome tourists to their small 28-room hotel. It was a great success, as almost all the staff were members of the family and the guests felt at home. That same year, 1961, Josefa married Gregorio Hernando, owner of the mechanical workshop.

In 1962, they decided to move to a second building with a total of 78 rooms and changed the name to the current Neptuno. In the winter of that same year, Josefa and Gregorio, together with their sister Benita and brother-in-law Ángel, decided to tour the center of Europe in search of new clients. The business was modernized by installing bathrooms in the rooms, achieving a 2-star rating.

In 1985, the couple's two daughters, Alba and Marta, joined the company. They bought a third building for the hotel, providing it with 106 rooms and 3 stars, and another to build a total of 12 floors.

Marta Hernando, the couple's eldest daughter, took over the management of the company so that her parents could finally retire. In 2009, they acquired an adjoining building to build the second block of apartments and parking spaces. Since then, they have 106 rooms and 28 three-star or three-key apartments.

In 2019, two of Marta's three daughters, Marina and Sònia Corral, joined the family business. In winter, the family embarked on an ambitious project to completely renovate the hotel with the aim of reaching the 4-star superior category, which prioritizes comfort, sustainability and excellent personalized service.
