Girona is a historic city, which dates back more than 2,000 years. One of the best ways to unwind during your holidays would be to spend a whole afternoon wandering around the city. The delightful city has small alleyways, picturesque buildings and bridges crossing the Onyar River.

There’s a good range of attractions and areas to visit, but the most important ones are:

  • Santa María cathedral, featuring a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
  • Sant Feliu basilica, known for its belfry, which was once part of the city’s ancient walls.
  • The Jewish quarter with its picture-perfect streets, where you’ll find some of the city’s most romantic spots.
  • Onyar houses – these colourful dwellings are perched on the River Onyar’s banks. The best views of them are from any of the city’s bridges.
  • There are several bridges crossing the river but the best known is Eiffel Bridge.
